This is a short sound bath built around one feeling: joy. Ten minutes, headphones in, and a single intention to carry you out of your head and into the present. It is part of my holiday sound bath series, and it works any time of year.
What is a sound bath?
A sound bath is a meditative practice where you lie back and let crystal singing bowl frequencies wash over you. Despite the name, there is no water. You simply listen, and your mind begins to settle.
A sound bath for joy
Joy is a feeling of great pleasure and happiness, and it does more than feel good. It grounds you in the present moment and pulls your attention toward the good in your life instead of the noise. This practice gives you ten unhurried minutes to sit inside that feeling.
How to use this sound bath
Find a comfortable place to lie down, lower the lights, and put your headphones in. As the bowls begin, bring to mind something that brings you joy, and let yourself feel it in your body, your mind, and your heart as you drift with the sound. The holidays can be joyful, and they can also feel heavy. Let this be ten minutes that belong only to you.
