Why I Left Richmond: Trading Safe for a Bigger Adventure
Watch above, or listen on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
I moved. After six years in Richmond, the city where I quietly rebuilt my entire life, I packed up and set off toward something bigger. It was sudden, it was a long time coming, and it was both at once. This week I am telling you everything, what those six years gave me, why I was ready for more adventure, and the chapter I am stepping into now. Let's get into it.
Why did I leave Richmond?
Richmond was the place I came back to when I needed somewhere safe. I bought my condo there as an investment in myself, a home to nest in while I figured out who I was and what I actually wanted. For years it was exactly right. It held some of the most transformational, important seasons of my life. And then, within the past year, something shifted. I had changed, and the city had changed too. The emotional charge of the old places had faded. I had outgrown the life I built there, and I was ready to grow again.
Why did I really shut down the in-person events?
Not because they were not working, and not because I was stepping back from House of Undine. The opposite. Ending the in-person events was preparation for this move, and for pouring everything into what House of Undine is becoming. Richmond will always hold a special place in my heart. Closing that chapter there was part of opening this one.
Why trade a safe, beautiful life for the unknown?
There is a version of safe that heals you, and a version that is really just comfortable. I had the second one, and I was ready for more. The peace I found over those years was never about the condo or the city, it was something I built inside myself, and it comes with me wherever I go. Once I knew that, the adventure felt less like a risk and more like the next right thing. I talk in this episode about how scary it still felt, and the self-trust it took to go for it anyway.
What is the next chapter?
Right now I am home with my family through the holidays, which I am genuinely so happy about. After that, the plan is a year of living in different cities, bringing House of Undine with me and holding in-person events in each one. The destinations get announced as I go, but Coconut Grove and Miami are the dream I am chasing. I am leaving plenty of room for life to surprise me. I am even starting horseback riding lessons, because I love being a beginner again.
